MSU Safe Place relies on volunteers to implement many of our services. We ask for a minimum commitment of 2-4 hours per week for at least one semester (approximately 4 months). Volunteers are typically needed Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm and Tuesday evenings from 6:15-8:15pm.
Provide support through one-on-one contact with shelter residents. Complete intakes and ongoing tasks with those in our shelter. Client Support/Advocacy volunteers have the option of being on a 24-hour on-call list. This responsibility includes being readily available to meet someone who needs assistance and performing intakes after normal business hours.
Spend time with individual or small groups of children in our shelter. Occasionally assist with field trips and special events. Some knowledge of child development is helpful, but not required.

In addition, please include times that you would be available to do a short interview (about 20-30 minutes). Applications can be submitted to Alyssa Baumann either by e-mail (email@example.com) or U.S. mail at Mail Processing – MSU Safe Place, 166 Service Road, Room 113A, East Lansing, MI 48824.
